Nutrition And Breast Feeding by Journalist Zainab Sheriff 2019

Having a nutrient-rich diet is important for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Unfortunately, new mothers in Sierra Leone hardly ever have a balanced diet because of cultural and societal beliefs. The husbands and other family members of these women often believe that women should have to fend for themselves after giving birth, causing them to offer no help to new mothers. This leaves new mothers with no option but to underfeed their babies or feed them with just water. To better understand the importance of nutrition for breastfeeding, MMW engages with medical workers in this segment of the podcast.
