Improving women’s economic power

60%

Percentage of Sierra Leone’s rural population who live in poverty

Investing in women leads to economic growth, gender equality and a reduction in poverty.  Funded by the World Bank and Sierra Leone Office of Skills Development, our fish farm project in Kamalenka in the Northwest province of Sierra Leone has brought both food security and financial opportunity to a highly impoverished remote village in the Karene District.

In 2023, we were honored to present our aquaculture project, “Fishing for Empowerment in Sierra Leone,” at the Paris Peace Forum. We were so proud to take the story of the women of Kamalenka Village to the world stage.
