Maternal death has affected many families in Kenema. Unfortunately, children affected by maternal death are also often abandoned by their fathers, leaving them on the street to fend for themselves. Many of these children are forced to resort to illegal activities like theft to provide for themselves. The common belief around maternal death blames the occurrence on witchcraft, creating more stigma around it. In this segment of the podcast, MMW engages with nurses to provide information about the causes of maternal death and to remove some of the stigma associated with it.
