Financial Sustainability

Our broadcasting spreads quickly into rural areas, and because of this we anticipate becoming a recognized media brand in the countries we work in.  Over time our listeners develop an affinity to their local journalist, and this trust in our staff is key to growing into a key player in the media landscapes where we work.

We are now focused on new non-grant funding opportunities.

We are in the fortunate position of being ready to accept advertising and sponsorship from private companies working in Africa. The Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, based on the United Nations ‘Protect, Respect and Remedy’ Framework, significantly enhances our prospects for private sector funding.  The Framework emphasizes that human rights are based in law and is now widely recognized by corporations, civil society organizations and governments alike, resulting in increased prioritization by companies for reliable communication links with the communities where they operate, something we can offer at high quality.

Media Matters for Women is supported by a combination of individual donations and foundation support. All donations come from a variety of individuals and organizations interested in our innovative work. Donate today! Or join our growing list of institutional donors. Most recently we rolled out a campaign with Crowdfunder – with great success! We
are now offering advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

Current Advertising Opportunities

For a decade, Media Matters for Women has been a key source for engaging in productive conversation with rural African women. Media Matters for Women produces weekly podcasts, presenting a mix of professional drama and reporting on a mix of issues relating to governance, livelihoods, and above all, local resources available on issues that matter to our listeners. Our reportage inspires and saves lives. Our archive of over 1,000 short audio podcasts is free to all and delivered in several innovative ways via mobile phone with a paid distribution staff of
Listening Centers, Youth Advocates and Town Criers. Advertising with Media Matters for Women is an excellent way to reach the world’s poorest
and remotely located women who remain unconnected with the Information Age. They are curious about the world and in significant need of information, especially about women’s rights and health matters.

Current Sponsorship Opportunities

We offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for companies and individuals wishing to align themselves with Media Matters for Women’s brand by partnering on issues or events. Sponsors enjoy visibility on our website and in relevant promotional materials while providing
valuable support for Media Matters for Women’s mission.
