Media matters for women

Media Matters for Women (MMW)

is at the forefront of harnessing

Bluetooth technology to address the unmet

information needs of women and girls

in rural Africa.

Our two successful pilot projects in Sierra Leone (funded by Oak Foundation, Indigo Trust, African Women’s Development Fund, and Amplify Change) successfully demonstrated a new kind of information network which is inexpensive to build and maintain, especially in comparison to radio.

Our information networks connect women and girls so they can share information, learn from each other, entertain each other, hear crucial messages, give feedback, and join in a movement that begins in their village and extends across their region

MMW fosters local journalism capabilities, produces original audio content in professional podcast format in multiple languages, and delivers these podcasts to last-mile women and girls via mobile phone.

MMW is registered in the U.S. as a Section 501(c) 3 nonprofit.
