MMW AT THE UN

MMW PRESENTED OUR CONCEPT AT THE 2015 UN-WOMEN AND UNESCO CONFERENCE ON LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO EMPOWER WOMEN AND GIRLS!

February 2015 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France

2015 was an important year for UNESCO’s flagship ICT in education event titled “Mobile Learning Week.”  The theme was empowering women and girls, and discussion focused around four focus areas: equality, access, gender-sensitive content and pedagogy, literacy and skills development.

MMW was very pleased to be selected to give a half-day workshop. Senior MMW Journalist Alinah Kallon from Makeni, Sierra Leone, was flown in by the UN from Sierra Leone at the height of the Ebola crisis, and Sharon Bylenga, Founding Director, co-presented.  Among other aspects of our work, we presented “MMW In A Box” which provides interested NGOs, government representatives, and activists with they tools they need to replicate our MMW concept....anywhere!

UNESCO and UN Women hosted more than 700 participants from over 60 countries at this  fourth annual Mobile Learning Week event.  Many of our MMW international volunteers came with us, including Delia Perez-Paya, Sarah Bomkapre-Kamara, Caitlin Kraft-Buchman, Valentina Barbacci and Laurence Debavelaere. They came in from Switzerland, Germany, and the UK to support us and network with others about MMW’s many successes so far.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support during this fantastic event!  We came away with many new contacts and ideas for transforming our concept further...!
